Denis and Karl are currently living in tents in Mansfield with their dog, Missie. They are in a very difficult situation and need both long-term support with homelessness and essential items for everyday life.
As the Dignity Alliance community support group, we are helping them communicate with the relevant services and deal with official matters connected to their situation. This process may take time, so we are now making an urgent appeal to the local community in Mansfield and the surrounding area.
What do they urgently need?
You may have unwanted items at home that are still in good condition and could make a real difference to Denis and Karl.
The items currently needed most are:
blankets,
an inflatable mattress,
clean men’s clothing,
shoes in UK sizes 7 and 9–10,
brand-new socks and underwear,
large waterproof bags for storing clothing,
a large garden umbrella for protection from the rain,
non-perishable food,
drinking water,
dog food and essential items for Missie.
Please donate only clean and usable items
Clothing and footwear may be second-hand, but they must be clean, undamaged and suitable for normal use.
Please do not donate clothes or shoes that are dirty, wet, torn, heavily worn or damaged. Socks and underwear must be brand new and unused.
We want every donated item to provide genuine help while protecting the dignity of the people receiving it.
We can collect the items personally
If you would like to help, please contact Dignity Alliance by private message or through the contact form on our website.
We can arrange to collect donated items personally within Mansfield and the surrounding area. For the safety and privacy of Denis and Karl, we will not publicly disclose their exact location.
This is an appeal for essential items only — we are not collecting money.
Together, we can make a difference
Our local community has shown many times that people can come together to support those experiencing difficult circumstances.
Even one blanket, a pair of shoes, a bag of food or some dog food for Missie could make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to provide any items, you can still help by sharing this appeal.
The more people who see it, the greater the chance that we can gather everything Denis, Karl and Missie urgently need.
Thank you for every donated item, message and share.
