A new two-bedroom bungalow could be built in the back garden of an existing property in Rainworth.

The proposal relates to land behind 88 Southwell Road East, which currently forms part of the garden of an existing detached two-bedroom bungalow.

The new property would include its own garden and patio area, as well as two car-parking spaces and two cycle spaces.

The site covers around 243 square metres and would face Nursery Gardens, where access to the new home would be created.

According to the planning statement submitted with the application, the proposed bungalow would provide a new home in a sustainable location close to the centre of Rainworth.

The statement also says the development would fit into the surrounding residential area and would not have a negative impact on highway safety.

Mansfield District Council is currently considering the application.

A deadline of Monday, 9 November 2026 has been set for a decision or recommendation on the scheme.

The proposal is one of a number of recent planning applications submitted across the Mansfield district, including extensions, tree works, solar panels, energy projects and other property alterations.
