Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment to Accessibility

Dignity Alliance wants our website, information, practical support, activities and community projects to be accessible and welcoming to as many people as reasonably possible.

We believe that disability, health conditions, age or accessibility needs should not prevent anyone from finding information, understanding our work, contacting us for support or taking part in appropriate community activities.

We aim to communicate clearly, use simple and accessible language and consider accessibility when planning our website, practical support and community activities.

Where we organise or support community projects, meetings or other activities, we also aim to consider accessibility and inclusion wherever reasonably possible.

  • Use clear and easy-to-understand language.

  • Use readable text sizes and good colour contrast.

  • Keep navigation simple and consistent.

  • Make important information easy to find.

  • Add alternative text to important images where appropriate.

  • Avoid relying only on colour to communicate important information.

  • Make the website usable on mobile phones, tablets and computers.

  • Consider accessibility when adding new pages, content or features.

  • Provide information in an alternative format where reasonably possible.

  • Consider accessibility when providing practical support.

  • Consider accessibility when planning community projects, meetings and activities.

  • Listen to reasonable accessibility requests from residents, volunteers and participants.

Using This Website

Our website is currently built and hosted using Wix.

Some accessibility features may depend on the functionality provided by Wix, third-party applications or external services used on the website.

We aim to review the website as it develops and improve accessibility where practical.

We do not currently claim that every part of the website fully complies with a particular WCAG accessibility standard unless the site has been appropriately tested.

Accessing Dignity Alliance Support

We want people to be able to contact Dignity Alliance even if they experience difficulties using online forms, written information or digital services.

Where reasonably possible, we will try to adapt how we communicate with someone who has an accessibility need.

This may include:

  • explaining information more clearly;

  • using simpler language;

  • providing information in another format;

  • allowing additional time to understand information;

  • using an alternative contact method where available; or

  • considering another practical adjustment that may help the person access our support.

We cannot guarantee that every requested adjustment will always be possible, but we will aim to consider reasonable requests and find a practical solution where we can.

Community Activities and Projects

Dignity Alliance may organise, support or participate in community activities and local improvement projects.

Where reasonably possible, we aim to consider accessibility when planning these activities.

This may include considering:

  • physical access to locations;

  • seating and mobility needs;

  • accessible routes;

  • communication needs;

  • reasonable adjustments;

  • participation by older or disabled residents; and

  • whether information about an activity can be provided in an alternative format.

Some activities may take place in locations or facilities that Dignity Alliance does not own or control.

In those situations, accessibility may also depend on the venue, landowner, council, partner organisation or other responsible body.

We cannot guarantee that every location, event or third-party facility will be fully accessible, but we will aim to provide available accessibility information and consider reasonable adjustments where practical.

If You Have Difficulty Using Our Website

If you experience an accessibility problem, cannot access particular information or need information presented in a different way, please contact us.

Tell us:

  • which page or information you are trying to access;

  • what difficulty you are experiencing; and

  • what alternative format or adjustment would help you.

Where reasonably possible, we will try to provide the information in a more accessible format or find another practical way to help.

If You Need an Adjustment for Support or a Community Activity

If you are contacting Dignity Alliance for support, taking part in a meeting, activity or community project and have an accessibility requirement, please let us know as early as reasonably possible.

Tell us what adjustment or support may help you participate or communicate more effectively.

We cannot guarantee that every requested adjustment will always be possible, particularly where an activity involves a third-party location or organisation, but we will consider reasonable requests and try to identify a practical solution where possible.

Alternative Ways to Contact Us

If using our website is difficult for you, you can contact Dignity Alliance using the alternative contact methods shown on our Contact page.

We will aim to communicate in a way that is reasonably accessible to you.

Ongoing Improvement

Dignity Alliance is a developing, volunteer-led community group.

Our website, practical support, activities and community projects will continue to develop as the organisation grows.

We aim to consider accessibility whenever we add or update content, provide support, organise activities or support community initiatives.

We welcome feedback that can help us identify barriers and make our work more accessible and inclusive.

Third-Party Content, Services and Locations

Our website may contain links to external websites, social media platforms or third-party services.

Our activities may also involve venues, public spaces, businesses, councils, charities or partner organisations that are not controlled by Dignity Alliance.

We do not control the accessibility of independent websites, services, venues or public spaces and cannot guarantee that they meet the same accessibility standards or approach.

Where practical, we will aim to provide relevant accessibility information or signpost people to the organisation responsible.

Accessibility Feedback

If you find an accessibility problem with the Dignity Alliance website, information, practical support, activity or community project, please let us know.

Feedback helps us identify barriers and improve accessibility for other users and participants.
